EF Education First (abbreviated as EF) is an international education company that specializes in language training, education travel, academic degree programs, and cultural exchange. The company was founded in 1965. As of 2018 EF had approximately 50,000 exployees in 55 countries.

OVERVIEW

Based between Zurich and Luzern, Switzerland, I was employed as Creative Lead for a specific product of Education First known as "EF ACADEMY".

The central design team of Art Director's and UX was based in London, UK. I was brought in to now lead the visual design of EF ACADEMY for the HQ in Switzerland.

I was given the logo and the colour palette. The rest of the task of bringing EF ACADEMY to life was my responsibility for the 2 years there. This included typography setting, the website, product design for an online application system, working on a daily basis with different markets globally and creating marketing material for them. This involved working on both online/offline projects

I was also assigned to work and manage a team with the EF DEVELOPMENT team based in Bangalore India which required working via channels like Skype.

1. The Brand

This is the part where the look and feel of the brand was established when used in various types of material. Bringing consistency into the brand was the key element here. I worked globally with staff in the university's as well as sales teams to understand what they need and their purpose. I had a budget to work with when deciding what can be purchased and from where.

2. The Online Experience

Creating the look and feel for 2 different products falling within EF. This included the My EF platform as well as the online experience for EF ACADEMY. Task involved the full UI/Visual design of both platforms working closely with internal arms of the business including marketing, sales and country managers globally for the product and directly with the students to understand their use of such a platform.

Taking inspiration from social media platforms used by the target demographic, including Pinterest, Twitter and Facebook and the use of “cards” but mixing with the needs of the business and students.

Compiling the look and feel including creating custom iconography for this platform.

Below shows the final variations of the EF ACADEMY website designed by myself. This included working closely with stakeholders of the business and making it as compact and easy as possible. It also included creating color themes to distinguish between when speaking about Campus’s and when speaking on the site on Course’s. This was later a style created that was implemented both online and offline work.
